why do people do this?

People baffle me, Reader, they really do.

I'm in this Facebook group that's all about baking gluten free food, and people give unsolicited advice ALL the time.

The other day, for example, someone posted a great picture of a delicious looking loaf of bread that she was super proud of...

As I was about to congratulate her, my eyes caught the comments... and they were a string of negativity!

"I wouldn't cut that loaf on a plastic board if I were you, your gut is sick enough as it is without adding microplastics to it."

"That loaf doesn't look gluten free to me, are you sure it's not poisoning you?"

"What did you do to get that bread to look so good? Is it full of unnatural ingredients? Be careful not to make yourself more sick."

Oh my goodness! One minute you're happily sharing a food picture on social media.. and the next you're panicking, wondering if you should call the local toxicology hospital!

Everyone seems so eager to give their (toxic) two-cents, right?

It's the exact same in the make money online space...

Here you are, bravely posting content on Facebook and sharing your wins, when people start interfering and telling you that TikTok is a thousand times better.

Or you're quietly editing YouTube videos and growing your channel, when someone slides into your DMs on Facebook and sadistically sows seeds of doubt.

Or you're posting on X and people give you a digital stare, telling you how anyone with any ethics should stay away from that platform.

People are SO good at being mean, it's incredible.

They'll say things like:

"Facebook is dead, you're wasting your time on there - just post on TikTok and all your videos will BLOW UP."

"I see your YouTube channel is getting very low views, are you sure you should stay on there? It's very saturated you know."

"You'll get nowhere using X for traffic - it's a platform for crazies."

And you're left doubting yourself, your strategy and second-guessing everything you're working so hard on...

Well I'm here to share a little "secret" with you: these people who are so judgemental and negative are either jealous of your success or trying to sell you something.

And my best advice is: IGNORE THEM.

Seriously.

Don't give them a second of your time or attention.

Stay in your lane and don't let others distract you from your path.

The truth is that just about every platform and every strategy works if you master it.

Facebook is not dead... YouTube is not saturated... X is not just for crazies... TikTok is more than just dancing teenagers... Pinterest is not only wedding and cake photos...

You've just got to pick the strategy that works best for you and your life... and then stick to it.

I hope this helps you!

Are you trying to get traffic to your links, Reader? Of course you are! And you're not the only one: we all are. Without traffic, no one sees your offers. And if no one sees your offers, you don't make money. Which sucks - because, let's face it, we all want, and need to, make money. Now I started a new traffic experiment a week ago: a 30-day Pinterest challenge. And my blood pressure rose a little when I peeked at my analytics this morning... Barely 48 hours after publishing my first "pins",...

Do you ever sit down to "work on your business" and just stare at the screen? You know you need to do something... but what exactly? There's so much you to do, right? So much you could do... so much you should do... Posting on social media, writing an email, creating a video, answering DMs and comments... The list is endless and it can be so f***ing overwhelming! So you end up scrolling through other people's content, feeling more and more like everyone else has got their sh*t together and is...

"One day I'll fly, said the caterpillar... and everyone laughed, except the butterfly..." This quote was framed, and placed on the wall of the restaurant where I sat with my mother on Saturday night. It was there, just behind her. Almost winking at me and reminding me to smile (dinner with someone who's brain is gradually getting destroyed by Alzheimer's is... well... there are no words really...) And I thought: "I must share this with my followers next week." This email is for you, Reader,...
