If there's one thing I've had to learn on my online journey it's this:
You need to get comfortable with blowing your own trumpet...
Those who make it are the ones who can show proof of their results.
Not just money results (at first, you don't have those).
But results, any results, any proof that you are indeed who you say you are and do what you say you do.
There are so many lies out there that it's very hard to know who to trust.
So if you don't show as much proof as possible, it's really hard to make it.
Which is why I have a screenshot at the top of this email...
This was posted yesterday by a lovely member of Dean's community - let's call her Carole (not her real name).
It made me blush... because she's basically saying my explanations saved her sanity.
Carole's comment made my day :-)
There's nothing I like more than to help people out and make it as easy as possible for them.
And it warmed my heart to read that my tutorials had made such a difference to her.
But sharing this with you is super uncomfortable.
My Swiss protestant grandparents taught me to be modest and never to brag...
For years, I didn't.
In fact I went above and beyond in the "no-bragging" style.
I apologised for any success, and systematically played them down.
"Your kids are amazing" I would be told...
"I'm very lucky" I would reply... "it's no thanks to me" I would add...
"You're a great therapist" my patients would say...
"Oh no, I'm not that good" I would shoot back, blushing...
"Your food tastes lovely" said my friends...
"I was just lucky to find a good recipe" was my answer...
I specialised in making myself as small as possible.
When I started online, it was no different.
I made commissions quite fast but kept them secret and always thought it was just luck.
When I DID speak out, it was mostly in a critical way, saying things like:
"My YouTube channel is no good"...
or "I don't make much money"...
or "I'm just doing what I'm told, I'm no genius", etc.
A few years down the line, I'm starting to know better - and act differently.
I'm telling you this for two reasons:
First because I don't want you to make the same mistake.
Please, don't stay small.
To make it online, you HAVE to stand out, you HAVE to get noticed.
Don't be shy.
Leverage every single win of yours.
EVERY-SINGLE-ONE
I mean it.
Tell the world when you get your first subscriber, when you make your first dollar, when you publish your first video...
Share every win, every sale, every testimonial, every kind word you get...
Don't hold back.
Do it gracefully, of course.
Always be truthful.
But don't hold back.
It will help you grow, I promise.
The second reason I'm telling you all this, is to follow my own advice...
I'm sharing this screenshot to show you proof that I indeed AM helpful, that people value my help, and that it saves them a tonne of time.
How else are you supposed to know that I'm being truthful?
If I don't show you proof, you only have my word for it, right?
There are many more kind words from clients of mine at the bottom of this page.
I plan to add to it every time I get more compliments.
Because I've decided to step out of my own way and own my successes.
And because I want as many people as possible to get my help inside of Dean's community.
Hope this helps you, Reader!
Sophie
